Is Peter Gelb Revolutionizing the Met Opera?
Check out this profile of Peter Gelb, general manager at the Met Opera on the job for a few years now. 2010 is the first year where his handiwork can be seen (when he first started, productions had already been in progress as they are planned years in advance). He is trying to broaden the appeal of the opera and bring in younger viewers to increase ticket sales and create interest in a new generation. Trying to do that without alienating old-timers has been quite a task.

Vanity Fair's May 2010 issue had a few really interesting profiles. This first one is of General David Patraeus, at the time head of CentCom with responsibility for Iraq, Afghanistan, Pakistan, Iran and Yemen. It provides an interesting glimpse into the role of one of the most important military figures of our time.
