Eating in Italy - Home Style
The New York Times did an article a few weeks ago (April) about how Italy has a program called "Home Food" where visitors to various regions throughout the country can arrange for traditionally-prepared meals with locals in their homes. The organization's goal is "the protection and increase of the value of typical Italian gastronomic and culinary legacy." A very noble cause, I might add.
Seems pretty awesome to be able to visit a country and really get a sense of what traditional cooking entails in the homes of the people who live there and know what they're doing. I'm all for great restaurants, but something about this seems more appealing and genuine.
